Exploratory Cask French Oak Bourbon image
Doc Swinson's Exploratory Cask French Oak Bourbon
Doc Swinson’s Exploratory Cask French Toasted Bourbon is a limited-release expression that showcases the innovative spirit of the Exploratory Cask series. This bourbon is crafted by finishing a blend of two MGP mash bills in toasted French oak casks sourced from Taransaud Cooperages in the Tronçais forest of France. The barrels are seasoned for a minimum of 36 months, imparting unique characteristics to the whiskey.

Note: This whisky is part of an ongoing series, with variability between each release due to differences in mash bill, barrels used, age profile, and others. If the specific version is not listed, ask your server or a store employee for more info.
Tasting Notes
Nose: sweet, spicy, fruity, and warm. The classic vanilla note is present, but more spice-influenced like aged rum.
Palate: In the mouth, the bourbon is sweet and viscous with a moderate astringency from grippy tannins.
Finish: Same as aromas with notes of chocolate orange peels, apricot marmalade on dark rye toast, and roasted bananas and leafs
New Riff Single Barrel Bourbon
New Riff Distilling's core Bourbon expression is a genuinely high-rye, full-bodied whiskey offering savory, spicy character, bottled at Barrel Proof without Chill Filtration. Featuring a mash bill of non-GMO grains at 65% corn, 30% rye, and 5% malted barley, it represents a new riff on Kentucky's most hallowed whiskey traditions. Aged four years in 53-gallon toasted and charred new oak barrels, there are no shortcuts taken in our production. All New Riff whiskeys are made with the full sour mash Kentucky Regimen; all carry an age statement and are always bottled without chill filtration.

Note: A very small quantity of whiskies came from this single barrel, so taste variability is higher than with larger production whiskies. Many times this is not a big deal (i.e. Blanton's), but sometimes it matters (i.e. Larceny Barrel Proof versions). If the specific barrel is not listed, ask your server or a store employee for more info.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Butterscotch rounding into fresh oak, with hints of vanilla and rye spice.
Palate: Broad, fulsome mouthfeel, leading to a sweeter vanilla accent, before a gathering of rye spices (clove, cinnamon, mint, dark berry) into the finish.
Finish: Long, rye-led finish, with brambly red-black fruits amid white pepper and clove.
