Port Charlotte Heavily Peated 2012 image
Bruichladdich Port Charlotte Heavily Peated 2012
This high provenance, heavily-peated single malt was distilled from Islay-grown barley in 2012. A total of eight Islay farms came together to harvest the 2011 crop for Port Charlotte over a tempestuous summer. Each farmer had worked with us before, in Hunter Jackson, Ian Torrance, Ian MacKerrel, Raymond Fletcher, Mark French, Alistair Torrance, Raymond Stewart with father and son team Donald and Andrew Jones. Our community's commitment to Islay is embodied here, where local barley is raised, distilled, matured and bottled only on Islay.

Tasting Notes
Nose: A vibrant fusion of dry earthy peat smoke and sweet caramel is layered with bright citrus zest, vanilla custard, and hints of tropical fruits like banana and mango
Palate: The oily, full-bodied texture delivers an initial punch of smoky heat that gives way to a rich medley of honeyed malt, apricot jam, and warming spices like cinnamon and black pepper
Finish: The experience concludes with an enduring, maritime-inflected finish where lingering peat embers mingle with salty sea spray, charred oak, and a faint whisper of lemon peel.
